Twentieth Week of School! - Blog #32

Like always, anything that has a link (video, song, website) will be in the post. I also put asterisk notes for clarification. Here you go.

My schedule: Science, Math, Project Lead The Way (Day 1), Student Aid (Day 2), Honors Language Arts, Social Studies

2/2/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
We are now learning about family pedigrees
I love the look on peoples faces when they hear that:
•I have five siblings, and I'm the oldest
•My mom has eight siblings
•that all of them are married with kids
•And that I have 40-ish cousins
It is sad that so many people are talking about all the relatives and how many divorced and remarried

Math
Why, at this far into the year, are people still surprised that while they're telling stories I finished the work?

2/3/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a half day
Project Lead The Way
We just played games
Student-Parent-Teacher conferences is what we did later

2/4/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
There are 97 people in my family pedigree with generations from my great-grandparents to my generation
That is a lot of people
A kid asked for my help and when I said how to do it, he argued and that me $5 that he was right
He wasn't
And now he won't pay me😞
I should stop making deals with people, because they never pay up

Math
We said songs we wanted to have played while we work, and when mine was played everyone else complained because it was clean and had no rapping
I was also the only one to finish the work
Kids these days...

Assembly
We had a Holocaust survivor speak to us
His favorite simile is "Respect is like a boomerang... You have to give it to get it back!"
He talked about his family, and his dad actually worked in the German army and was killed by US soldiers, so when he was liberated he had mixed feelings
He talked about how the Jews were killed, how, when, and why and about the living conditions
He talked about FAQ
•He does NOT have a number on his arm, he was taken to a camp, but not a concentration camp
•He did want to kill the Germans, but didn't because he knew that nothing good or beautiful comes from hate
It was definitely a once of a kind experience, very much like the Cultural Celebration

2/5/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
Everyone got mad at me when I relayed the assignment to the sub because the sub was only going to give us half the assignment
Well excuse me! I would like to not get an F for not completing the assignment!

Math
After the test mom came and got me and now I have a passport! (See FB post, not that that has anymore detail) πŸ˜‰

2/6/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
FUN FACT #12: Porcupines float in water!

Math
We had a sub and she gave me a Tootsie pop when I say down and began working while everyone else talked
She also let us listen to music, but almost took it back when people had it up to loud
She is a grandma so she worries for "Young people's ears being broken from that loud racket"
Exact words

And that was this week! See you next time!

Nineteenth Week of School! - Blog #31

Like always, anything that has a link (video, song, website) will be in the post. I also put asterisk notes for clarification. Here you go.

My schedule: Science, Math, Project Lead The Way (Day 1), Student Aid (Day 2), Honors Language Arts, Social Studies

1/26/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
NOOOO!!! We are doing worksheets about SpongeBob and his genetics!
Stupid SpongeBob

Project Lead The Way
We get to build our own wind turbine blades out of wood and stuff

1/27/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IT'S RAINING!!!

Science
FUN FACT #11: Dolphens and whales are the only mammals that don't drink water!

Student Aid
We get to make hundreds of copies of paper procedures!
So...much...paper...

Social Studies
Apparently our teacher is giving people random extra credit
He shouldn't give out extra credit unless they did something worth more then 100%
So now I have 108% in his class

1/28/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lunch
I had just started eating my ice cream when lunch ended!
Now I can't feel my mouth...so much ice cream in so little time...

1/29/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
We talked about common human genes like dimples, widow's peak, etc
I am considering researching some human genes and determine my genes, or at least the physical ones

Student Aid
It is fun to have this badge
It lets teachers look at you as more then an immature teen, and it lets you go anywhere on campus while you're wearing it without question
THE POWER! πŸ˜ƒ

1/30/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
This is my DNA origami:

I faked drinking some DNA of a strawberry that we extracted, so now one of my friends thinks that I'm going to become a strawberry
Now, with Mom's help/permission, I want to pull a prank on them by making myself red by food coloring to make them think I'm becoming a strawberry
'Devilish smile'

Lunch
I got pulled into this 'name on hand don't look or you have to ask them out' game
So know if I'm asked how I first got asked out, it would technically be because of this dumb game
Yeah...

Social Studies
Why are all the kids in this class kindergarteners?!?!?
I was outvoted 35-1 in favor of PICTURES over sentences
'Sigh'

And that was this week! See you next time!

1/20/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Project Lead The Way
Supposedly, we will run out of oil in 2050
I bet that we will have electric cars by then, and have solar energy or something

Honors Language Arts
We are learning about some people from the holocaust, and these stories are sad and kind of creepy
Apparently, Storm troopers and Darth Vader are based off of Nazis and Hitler
The Star Wars I knew is no more... : (

Social Studies
We have a lot of work, but for some reason I am extremely satisfied with my speed and quality of my work today
Hmm...

1/21/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
FUN FACT #10: Humans share 60% of their DNA with a banana
We had to make smiley face babies based on coin flips:

Student Aid
So bored!!!
We rarely ever have work to do
On the upside, I get to go to the library a lot
One librarian I actually know really well and she knows me
She even remembers the last book I asked for so she can recommend new books or can put the next book in a series on hold quickly

1/22/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Project Lead The Way
We get to use brand new computers! The rest of the school has computers from like 5 years ago, maybe even more

Honors Language Arts
We are going to be reading the play of The Diary of Anne Frank
I did not know that Natalie Portman played Anne in a live performance
The whole class gasped when we found out

1/23/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
We got Spring Pictures for 'graduates' today
It is just Jr. High people!
Math
I finished the quiz today quickly, so I spent 45 minutes playing Minecraft while listening to my music

Student Aid
YES! Lots of work and things to do!

Honors Language Arts
We got to take a VR tour of Anne Frank's hideout LINK

And that was this week! See you next time!

Seventeenth Week of School! - Blog #29

Like always, anything that has a link (video, song, website) will be in the post. I also put asterisk notes for clarification. Here you go.

My schedule: Science, Math, Project Lead The Way (Day 1), Student Aid (Day 2), Honors Language Arts, Social Studies

1/12/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Student Aid
Now I have someone else to work with
I ran into Anya while I was delivering something

Honors Language Arts
We got a person from the Holocaust, and we have to guess from their name and picture who they were essentially
Some people got weird names, like Adolf Heck or some, like me, get names like David Bergman
These people could be soldiers, Nazis, or victims

Social Studies
We talked our way out of all the work

1/13/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's Dad's birthday! He is 37 πŸ˜„

Honors Language Arts
We are being taught the eight steps of genocide
Where technically being taught how to commit genocide
Yeah...

1/14/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
I went to training to become a Student Aid
FUN FACT #9: 25,000,000 of your cells died as you read this sentence. It's okay though, because your body will make 300 billion new celles today! πŸ˜…

Honors Language Arts
My teacher knows that my Wednesday nights are busy, *I have Mutual* so she told me I can do the homework tomorrow in class

1/15/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
I couldn't get my homework done because I was at Student Aid training yesterday, so I did it in class, which should of gotten me partial credit no matter what, but she gave me full credit
Yay for being a responsible student!

Project Lead The Way
This is my note car[d]:

We all made different ones and drove them by rolling a marble down a ruler into them
I would have one by passing 12 feet, but a chunk of tape flipped it

1/16/15----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
We made little animal cells out of treats:

I could name all the parts in a diagram, but that would take awhile

Math
We learned about the new high school
We are going to be the Casteel Colts!
Second place was Cowboys, third was Cougars
I wanted Cougars
Casteel Cougars...has a nice ring to it, don't us think?
I think every condensed Mormon area needs a school with a Cougar mascot

Student Aid
It is fun to run into Anya and my friends while delivering

It is awesome that I get to take my iPod because I can get pictures of stuff that you wouldn't see otherwise

Sorry for the inconsistent blog posts, I'm working on making it a regular Sunday thing

And that was this week! See you next time!

Kids are already losing phones two minutes into the semester

General Art
Is one of my new electives
I know almost everyone from Oral Expressions, which is the only reason I want to stay

Science
Went on my first school field trip!
We went to Perry high school to see some of the electives for those who will be going
If I wasn't bordered for the new school, which is going to be called Castille High School, I would definitely go to Perry
We got to see some technology classes, printing classes, artistic classes, and even baby sitting classes
Some of the classes can even count for college credit

FUN FACT #7: One in two billion people live to be 116 or older!

FUN FACT #8: In the US, tomatoes are consumed more than any other fruit or veggie

BTW, what was the verdict on making reviews? Would any of you be interested in reading those?

And that was this week! See you next time!

Quick update - Blog #27

So school starts back up really soon, on Tuesday. So blogs will be going up. However, they will be smaller than they used to be because as we get farther into the year I have less time to write. At least to write about, because it's pretty much the same old same old almost every day. The first one or two may be a little bit lengthier than the others because I have the two new elective starting up on Tuesday and Wednesday. Also something that I'm considering doing is starting like a review thing. I got a cool format from my computer teacher about how to do a product review. I can apply that to things such as maybe a TV show or a game without giving anything away of course. I know that maybe the games would be more or less relevant to some of you just because you don't play video games, but I still might want to do it. What do you guys think?  Also, I feel like I've been treating this like a YouTube channel. I mean that I ask you guys about if I should do something to see if you'd be interested to read it. I know that all of you would read anyway, but I still want to have stuff you guys at least enjoy reading, not just reading because I'm related to you or know you. Either way I'll see you guys in the next blog which will be coming up soon of either my next week of school, or of a certain game or TV show/movie review if you guys are up to it. See you next time!

Fifteenth Week of School And Summary - Blog #26

NOTE: For summary of the past few weeks, see bottom of this post.

Like always, anything that has a link (video, song, website) will be in the post. I also put asterisk notes for clarification. Here you go.

My schedule: Science, Math, Oral Expression (Day 1), Computers (Day 2), Honors Language Arts, Social Studies.

11/12/14--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sick

11/13/14--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Science
Catching up from a missing day isn't as hard as I thought it would be
It's cool that I keep getting to help the people in my row because I'm the only one familiar with the Microsoft Office tools

Math
My teacher was impressed because I printed off my homework at home and did it
two kids are throwing pencil pieces and spitballs at each other, and I'm caught in the crossfire!
One of the kids tried to blame it on me, but my teacher doesn't believe them
Yay for trust!

Lunch
In the bathroom some kids started swearing about the custodians not fixing one toilet, and his friend says "Aren't you Mormon?" And the other kid says, "Yeah, so? Doesn't matter."
Isn't that just sad? Why? Just why.

FUN FACT #3: Alligators can run up to 20 mph!

FUN FACT #4: Worldwide, consumers spend more than $7 billion a year on chocolate (which is why we are running out)

FUN FACT #5: A Saguero cactus can live up to 300 years

FUN FACT #6: The fastest speed of falling raindrop can hate you is 18 mph
(That's gotta hurt!)

SUMMARY:
Had a cold, got a bad cough for two weeks, then contracted Bronchitis. I got an inhaler for a week or so (still have it but I'm cured now) and had finals. (Grades below) First in Oral Expression, where I did a short play with a friend (we did really well, high As) and then in Computers I had a typing test, which I also did well on. Then I had my Science Fair, which I did extremely well on. Then I became Student of the Week. And then I had my Science and Math finals. My teachers are awesome, by the way. Now I'm on break for two and a half weeks (two now) and relaxing everyday. And there was an Alex Boye fireside, which was fun. I got a cool watch for St. Nick's birthday, and I'll be going to a new high school next fall, where I will be in the first graduating class of each grade, because it starts with 7-9 and adds a new grade each year. And I was chosen out of 8 million people to be 1 of a 1000 the beta test a game made by one of my favorite YouTubers called Fortress Fallout. Expect a review soon. That combined with getting new friends, being a Teacher, having girl problems (I'll regret that), my life is crazy.

GRADES:
Chemistry Final: 91.667%
Pre-Algebra Final: 82.5%
Duo Scene Performance: 95%
Typing Test: 100%
Language Arts and Social Studies had no final

FINAL GRADES:

And that was this week! I don't know how much blogging there will be during break, but see you next time!
